Easy Financials for Startups Workshop
February 16 @ 17:30 - 19:00 CST
Entrepreneurs are often surprised as to why investors pay so much attention to an early-stage company’s financial projections. Depending upon the type of investor (friends and family, angel, VC) there’s a different investor profile, expectation of return on investment and timeline for monetizing their investment.
Entrepreneurs need to understand that financial projections are not only important for raising capital and gauging the timing of when follow-on investment may be needed, but more importantly, to acknowledge the founder’s responsibility to be accountable to that plan. While the world changes right after the ink dries on a business plan and financial projections, having a roadmap that sets the company’s strategic direction, plan of execution and understanding of risks is vital to increasing the chances of that business’ success.
From properly scaling to staffing, from marketing to ultimate sales, this inward view is most helpful to ensure that the entrepreneur brings others in to focus on their competencies and tasks. This delegation will enable the entrepreneur to then focus on those initiatives which create the most value for the business in the long-term.
Join us for an engaging workshop that will help student entrepreneurs and other innovators learn how to not only understand what it means to put together a startup’s financial projections but also how to present this data in a way that will help you land more investments and teach you the value of running your company by the numbers!
