DESCRIPTION:USDOT Launches Pilot Program to Help Small Disadvantaged Businesses Grow in New Emerging Transportation Markets \nPathways to Entrepreneurship Program: Powering Small Businesses in Emerging Transportation Markets aims to build equity and increase small\, disadvantaged business utilization. \nWASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) announced today the launch of its “Pathways to Entrepreneurship Program: Powering Small Businesses In Emerging Transportation Markets” with a one-day pilot program experience on Tuesday\, September 10\, 2024\, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (EST) at the USDOT Headquarters\, 1200 New Jersey Ave.\, SE\, Washington\, D.C.\, and virtual live broadcast. \nThe comprehensive Pathways to Entrepreneurship Program (P2E) has three pillars or “pathways” to entrepreneurship designed for Small Disadvantaged Businesses\, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)\, and HBCU students. The one-day pilot program experience is an overview of the P2E and will feature highlights of the six-month pilot program for small\, disadvantaged businesses. \nThe Pathways to Entrepreneurship Program is created to empower small\, disadvantaged businesses seeking to pivot into new and emerging transportation markets; engage HBCU institutions; and educate aspiring HBCU students with an entrepreneurial mindset eager to explore new transportation markets and help them consider transportation career options upon graduation. \nOur overall Pathways to Entrepreneurship Program goal is to provide participants with the knowledge\, skills\, and resources to navigate cutting-edge technology markets and contribute to wealth-building in underserved communities. \nSmall business owners and others attending the one-day pilot program will meet key USDOT leaders; engage and network with industry professionals and successful entrepreneurs; and provide valuable feedback to help OSDBU refine the program before launching the six-month initiative. Participants will also receive information on potential funding opportunities and learn about business growth possibilities in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). \n“The Pathways to Entrepreneurship Program is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at unlocking the potential of small\, disadvantaged businesses in the emerging transportation sector\,” said Tyra Redus\, Director of OSDBU. “By providing access to emerging markets and cutting-edge technologies\, we are not only empowering these businesses to thrive but also fostering innovation and economic growth in underserved communities.
