Vala Afshar’s journey is nothing short of amazing. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 10 as an Iranian refugee with his mother until his father was able to join them 4 years later. He didn’t speak English but had a strong aptitude for math and later attended the University of Massachusetts where he earned undergrad and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering.
Afshar started sharing things that inspired him which was a move that completely changed his career. He is now “one of the most influential voices in digital transformation, customer service, marketing, digital commerce and the business side of social media” – Forbes.
Afshar is the Chief Digital Evangelist for Salesforce; host of DisrupTV where he hosts a weekly video show DisrupTV, inviting Fortune 1000 business executives, startup founders, venture capitalists and tech and media personalities, covering business, technology and leadership topics, has interviewed over 350 business leaders since 2013; is a columnist for ZDNet; contributes weekly tech, business and leadership articles to Huffington Post, INC Magazine, and others; and is the author of the book, “The Pursuit of Social Excellence”.
