This session will be presented by Dr Jummy Okoya, who will be facilitating an insightful discussion on the current state of diversity and inclusion (D&I), she will also explore the challenges and share current practice on how to embed (D&I) strategy into business strategy. The workshop will also share the experiences and lessons learnt by some major corporations in their D&I journey.
Positive Psychology Coaching & Mentoring Tools This practical workshop aims to share some evidence based positive psychology tools which you can add to your coaching toolkit to support your clients to achieve powerful growth, increased awareness and sustained progress towards their goals.
- Highlight the differences between inclusion and diversity
- Explore the case for using ‘threshold selection’ in hiring decisions
- Examine the role of senior leadership team in improving diversity
- Consider some of the currently used action plans for developing women leaders.
- Extend understanding of how to embed Diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy into the overall business strategies & employee encouragement in order to gain diverse perspectives and improve leadership on gender equality.
Dr Jummy Okoya PhD, SFHEA, FCMI, MCIPD
Jummy is an international HR Consultant with two decades’ experience in public, private and UK higher education. She is also a qualified resilience and wellbeing practitioner who uniquely integrates Positive Psychology interventions with HR practices to achieve flourishing organisations and thriving employees. Her passion is optimal functioning and healthy high performance of individuals and organisations. She began her career with the NHS in the UK as a training and development facilitator, developing, commissioning and delivering complex new programmes. She has garnered extensive international experience in delivering organisation development, Equality & Diversity, Talent Management and Leadership. As an Equality and Diversity (E&D) expert she leads on developing E&D strategy and develops programmes to improve gender parity, inclusive workplace, monitoring E&D data and employee wellbeing. She is the lead for University of East London Women’s Network, she is very passionate about developing female talent pipeline and encouraging more women into leadership positions. Jummy holds a PhD in Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship, MSc in Positive Psychology and Applied Coaching Psychology; she is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Fellow of Chartered Management Institute and a Chartered academic member of the CIPD. Jummy is a senior lecturer at the University of East London (UEL), a visiting lecturer at many excellent institutions both in the UK (Imperial College Business School) & overseas (University for Foreigners of Perugia, Italy). She manages MBA International partnerships in Greece, Malaysia and Germany. She is the chair of UEL Women’s Network, the Equality and Diversity lead for her school and former MBA Director.
