Impact Hub MSP is excited to offer a new series – Essential Tools for Impact Entrepreneurs. Take one or take them all to get started on your journey of becoming a Social Impact Entrepreneur!
Tuesday 9/28, 9-10:30am – Know your customer
This session will illustrate proven methods to get authentic user feedback, including Customer Discovery & Value Proposition Design, in order to reduce risk, save time and improve success. You will leave with tools necessary to keep your user’s voice at the center of your work.
Thursday 10/14, 3:00-4:00pm – Discover your path to impact
This session will help you get clear on the impact you want to have through the Logic Model framework that is used by nonprofit and social impact ventures around the world. You will leave with a statement of your desired impact and a clear path on how to get there.
Tuesday 10/26, 2-3:30pm – Start your social business
This session will teach you how to use the Business Canvas Model to take ideas out of your head and get them on paper! You will leave with a business plan framework, a Business Canvas, and an understanding of how to use that over the various iterations as your idea moves into launch stage.
Terri Barreiro is an expert in systems change and a mission-driven venture advisor. She is an adjunct instructor of Social Entrepreneurship at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs and venture advisor to students at Carlson School of Business, U of MN. She is co-founder of and volunteer venture coach at Impact Hub MSP and consultant to nonprofit and philanthropic organizations.
She is co-author of Social Entrepreneurship: the Journey from Issue to Viable Venture and founder of the Donald McNeely Center for Entrepreneurship serving the College of Saint Benedict and Saint Johns’ University. She brings to her work more than 30 years of experience as a nationally recognized nonprofit and philanthropy leader with extensive experience in United Way, corporate giving, and family foundation operations. She earned an MBA and BA cum laude at the University of Minnesota as well as completed an Executive MBA program at Carnegie Mellon University. She has enjoyed volunteering throughout her life, currently serving on the boards of Community Giving, Close Gaps by 5, Folk School Warroad, Market Access Fund, and Impact Hub MSP. Enjoying birds, nurturing native gardens and prairies is how she shares her leisure hours with her husband.
