Achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires action at the municipal level. How can you vote for the SDGs at this election

Getting involved in local issues and democratic processes is key to ensuring that your local elected officials understand the social and climate challenges we’re facing build the right partnerships, and are held accountable to their commitments.

It all starts with your vote.

Ottawa’s elections are taking place on October 24. Join us at this Brown Bag Lunch to learn all about

  • what municipal governments can do to advance social, economic and environmental issues with information organized by the SDGs;
  • How the SDGs can be used as a shared language to integrate the multiple challenges that we are facing; and
  • How to use the SDGs for issue-focused advocacy to engage with candidates and communities on important local issues during municipal elections.

Luis Patricio is the co-lead of the SDG Cities program at Pillar Nonprofit Network. Luis has been working with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) since 2019 with a focus on aligning the global goals with local priorities.

Luis has been involved in a wide range of local sustainable initiatives including urban place-making, community-supported agriculture, zero waste programs, cycling advocacy, alternative education, arts and sport. Luis has a master’s degree in Urban Management, he is currently doing a Ph.T. research in Urban Literacy and teaching at Huron University in London, Ontario.

Brown Bag Lunches are Impact Hub Ottawa’s weekly lunch & learns led by Hubbers, for members and non-members alike. Topics vary each week, but you’re always sure to learn something new!
