Kahty drives overall coalition strategy, member recruitment, tech job growth and talent supply. She spent over 25 years in the tech industry leading sales, partnership and consulting for hardware, software and services businesses. Kathy has her Masters in Workforce/Talent Development.

Panelists:

Murali Natarajan-SVP & Chief Information Officer-West Bend Insurance Company:

Murali Natarajan is currently the SVP and CIO of West Bend Mutual insurance. He joined WMBI in 2017 with 20 years of insurance industry experience and 24 years of technology experience. In partnership with various leaders at WBMI, he is also responsible for creating and executing the technology vision and strategy for the various business units in the company. He is a business savvy leader with a keen ability to drive technology enabled business transformation. Natarajan joins WBMI from RLI. He was with RLI insurance since 1997 where he joined as a technology architect and grew up the ranks in IT to be VP of IT in 2012. His prior experiences includes working as a consultant for various industries like financial, manufacturing and Logistics.

Natarajan has attained his CPCU, CISSP and completed his Executive education program at the Wharton school of business. He also has his MBA and Masters in Information Systems from Bradley University in Peoria IL and his Bachelors in Science & Technology from BITS Pilani, India.

James Hischke – Senior Director-Tech Advancement & Outreach – Northwestern Mutual:

James Hischke is Senior Director of Tech Advancement and Outreach for Northwestern Mutual. He began his career at the company in 2004 as a Systems Consultant, where he played a key role in transitioning the company’s retail investment platform from Baird to Pershing. He later advanced in a project management capacity to ultimately lead enterprise-wide programs including one project to modernize several legacy insurance systems to work with new models of field distribution and another effort focused on the transformation of IT operations from a traditional functional organization to a services model. He also was part of a founding team that led the Continuous Learning and Improvement transformation for several of our core insurance value streams.

James currently spearheads Northwestern Mutual’s initiative to make the Milwaukee region a tech hub. In this role, his ability to build relationships, break down silos, and cultivate a collaborative mindset has helped to both strengthen the tech hub movement and move Northwestern Mutual into the spotlight as an innovator and leading tech employer. In 2019, he was named as a “40 Under 40” winner by the Milwaukee Business Journal for this work. Each year, the award recognizes 40 of Milwaukee’s up-and-coming leaders who are under 40-years-old.

James holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Carroll University and a MBA from Marquette University. Prior to NM, James was a software engineer at Strong Financial. He and his wife, Beth, have four children. Despite his busy schedule, James finds time to apply his passion for the future to youth development through coaching soccer, baseball and basketball. He also serves on the Boards for Milwaukee Tech Hub Coalition, i.c.stars Milwaukee and Pathways High Milwaukee.

Scott Vifquain – Senior Vice President – Kohls:

Scott is a Senior Vice President at Kohl’s Department Stores, Responsible for leading Application Development across a number of application domains. Scott has over 20 years of retail experience, specializing at the intersection of supply chain,technology, and the customer experience. He began his career at Kurt Salmon Associates, where he consulted leading retailers and global brands on realizing the value of connected supply chains. At Kohl’s Scott’s team has been responsible for building the physical and digital assets that power Kohl’s Omni-Fulfillment engine.
