(un)common connections: The Power of Protest
In what society do we want to live in and what are we willing to do to make it happen?
What matters to us today? In what society do we want to live in and what are we willing to do to make it happen? What kind of world do we want to hand over to future generations?
In 2020, even though we were confined to our homes, so much action happened. People focused more on humanity and we saw how interconnected we all really were. Protests, social activism, and actions of individuals and small groups became more prominent. Efforts of a few motivated others to organize themselves. We shared, we talked, we empowered each other.
How did social media and the internet become powerful protest and activism tools of the XXI century? What’s the connection between protest and delivering the needed change?
Human rights issues haven’t ended with the start of the new year. At our first event of the new and powerful year, together with our guest speakers, we will embark on their journey and discuss the outcomes of their work. Through small-group discussion, we will talk about what action still needs to be taken.
