Session One: Are You Procurement Ready?
In this session, We will discuss what Procurement is. How do you get Procurement ready? This includes going over common Procurement terminologies, and basic terms and concepts in a contract, an overview of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and understanding what it means to be Procurement Ready.
Module 2: Federal Registration and Certification
We will help you understand what key document requirements are needed to register for The System for Awards Management (SAM), insight into how to maneuver through the registration process, and how important it will be to keep your registration active. You will also learn how to Identify your NAICS codes, and which Federal certifications you qualify for.
Module 3: State Registration and Certification
This session we will discuss the State of Texas Historically Underutilized Business Program (HUB), in what manner to identify your National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP codes) and Highway District, the importance of registering on the Centralized Masters Bidders List (CMBL), and finally, understanding who qualifies for the HUB Certification, document requirements, and the application process.
Module 4: Market Research
This module will take you through how to conduct federal/state market research based on the products/services you are trying to sell to the government. You will learn how to conduct research using your commodity codes on various websites. You will walk away with an understanding of what government agency is buying, who is your competition, and the importance of setting up your vendor registration with the right commodity codes.
Module 5: – What is a Capability Statement?
We will help you understand what a Capability Statement is and how to use it to market your products and services to the government. We will guide you in learning what you should include in your Capability Statement, the Three types of Capability Statements and how to use them, and the four core components of creating a Capability Statement. Finally, you will walk away learning the importance of marketing your business to government agencies using your capability statement.
