Ever dream of changing the world or making a difference? Roll up your sleeves and join us at Houston’s only Social Entrepreneurship meetup. The meetup brings together like-minded individuals from the non-profit, social enterprise, impact investing, technology and many other fields to understand the concept of social entrepreneurship and be inspired to find new ways to tackle local social issues.
This meet-up will have three parts:
6:00pm: Introduction to Social Entrepreneurship
6:15pm: Guest Speaker – Ghaith Ibrahim, MD, Founder and Director – IMGs for Texas
7:00pm: Networking & open discussion on Impact topics
About Dr. Ibrahim:
Ghaith Ibrahim is a medical doctor from Iraq, he relocated to the United States in 2014. Since then, Dr. Ibrahim has worked on his medical relicensing process and joined multiple clinics and hospitals, to learn about the U.S healthcare system. In 2018 Dr. Ibrahim was certified by the Educational Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates. For the last two years, he worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Davis School of Medicine, Department of Public Health. And founded International Medical Graduates for Texas (IMGs for Texas), a medical volunteering non-profit with over one hundred and ninety members.
About IMGs for Texas:
International Medical Graduates for Texas (IMGs for Texas) is a medical volunteering non-profit organization that leverages the efforts of foreign-trained doctors to care for underserved patients and to provide relief efforts during disasters. IMGs for Texas was founded amidst the disaster of Hurricane Harvey in Texas to provide immediate relief and later grew to respond to other disasters overseas in Puerto Rico and Guatemala. It continues today to provide care to the underserved and educate the public. Unlike traditional non-profits, IMGs for Texas is structured around digital solutions and leveraging social media outlets. A year into its inception, IMGs for Texas helped over two thousand patients at home and abroad, and currently has 191 members from 39 countries.
