Circle Launch – Food System Transformation (FST)

Circle Launch – Food System Transformation (FST)

Hear more about the benefits of the transition to a regenerative food system and current circular practices. Join our FST- Circle!

AGENDA

  • 18.00 Intro Food System Transformation Cirlce: Diskussion moderiert von Sanja Rakic (FST Circle Lead, Founder of RAK Sustainable Events)
  • 18.10 Einführung von Ana Laura Rivarola (Programmmanagerin Circular Economy Transition- CET Impact Hub Basel)
  • Case Study: Zero Waste Innovation Lab (ZEWIL): Akademische und praktische Untersuchungen und Implementierung im Gastrobetrieb”, Moni Altermatt (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin FHNW für Recherche und Dokumentation im ZEWIL)
  • Case Study: “Café spurlos ein Zero Waste Konzept“, Tamara Waeber (Betriebsleiterin Café spurlos)
  • Case Study: “Zirkuläre Landwirtschaft” Toni Gass (dipl. Meister-Landwirt, Präsident und Landbesitzer Wolfloch Oltingen)
  • 19.05 Interaktive Runde FST Circle (Sanja Rakic, FST Circle Lead, Founder of RAK Sustainable Events)
  • 19:15 Apéro

Das Event richtet sich an Personen, die sich für Kreislaufwirtschaft und Nachhaltigkeit interessieren: Lebensmittelunternehmen, EinzelhändlerInnen, lokale LandwirtInnen (städtische, regenerative, aquaponische Landwirtschaft), GastronomInnen, LieferantInnen, UmweltwissenschaftlerInnen, ForscherInnen, DozentInnen und StudentInnen (Landwirtschaft, Agronomie und Lebensmittelwissenschaft, Biodiversität, Nachhaltigkeit und Innovationen, Abfallwirtschaft usw.), EntscheidungsträgerInnen in der Lebensmittelpolitik, Zero-Waste Abfall Initiativen und Organisationen, IngenieurInnen/ InnovatorInnen – Lösungen für Lebensmittel- und Nebenproduktabfälle, usw.

REGISTRIERUNG

ENGLISH:

The increasing consumption of food and feed products has led to increased pressure on natural resources, endangering biodiversity and bringing human health at risk. It has been shown that the linear food system we are witnessing now is no longer suitable for the 21st century and that a new circular model is required.

The goal of the Food System Transformation Circle (FST Circle) is to explore the benefits of the transition to a more regenerative food system by bringing more circular examples to the public where food production have a positive (and regenerative) impact on the environment, food by-products are used more effectively and people have easier access to healthier and nutritious food.

The event offers a space to exchange current circular practices, challenges, solutions and knowledge.

Brown Bag Lunch – What the Pandemic Teaches Us About Climate Change

Brown Bag Lunch – What the Pandemic Teaches Us About Climate Change

What unexpected lessons has the COVID-19 pandemic taught us about climate change?

Here’s a chance to share your experience and hear from others about what the last few months of the pandemic have been like for you, what you’ve learned along the way, what’s become more (or less) important to you, and what those lessons learned can tell us about action on climate change. This BBL is part of a series of local listening sessions aimed at distilling lessons from the pandemic that can help guide climate action and outreach.

Mitchell Beer is a longtime Hubber and publisher of The Energy Mix, a free e-digest on climate change, energy, and carbon-free futures. He’s worked on climate change since 1997, clean energy since 1977. A proudest moment was building a wind turbine out of wooden stir sticks with his then-11-year-old daughter, and improv comedy practices are sometimes the best part of his week.

Brown Bag Lunches are Impact Hub Ottawa’s weekly lunch & learns led by Hubbers, for members and non-members alike. Topics vary each week, but you’re always sure to learn something new!

Can’t make it at 12 PM? Register and we’ll email you a recording of the presentation to watch at your convenience.

Tickets are free

We have removed our ‘Helping Hand Donation’ ticketing option and offer the following suggestions should you wish to donate, instead, to an organization working to support anti-racism in Canada:

Houston Online Wikipedia Edit-a-thon Workshops

Join us to learn how to edit Wikipedia and work together to improve and create Wikipedia articles on Black Houstonians and women artists!

These virtual edit-a-thons will focus on Black Houstonians and women artists. Participants will learn how to edit Wikipedia and work together to improve and create Wikipedia articles. All are welcome and no prior experience editing Wikipedia is necessary!

Why We Edit

Wikipedia’s content is skewed by the lack of Black and female participation. This represents an alarming absence in an increasingly important repository of shared knowledge.

Let’s change that. Join us for a communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to art, Black culture, and feminism. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, and encouragement. People of all gender identities and expressions are invited to participate.

Event Info

Dates:

  • Thursday, August 20, 6pm – 8pm CT
  • Sunday, August 30, 3pm – 5pm CT

Participants will be able to ask questions throughout and are not required to stay for the entire session. Tutorials will take place during the first hour.

Platform: Zoom (link will be sent an hour before the event)

This series couldn’t happen without the support of The African American Library at the Gregory School, Art+Feminism, Arte Público Press, Black Lunch Table, and Impact Hub Houston. This project is funded in part by the City of Houston through the Houston Arts Alliance.
